Lando Norris Tops Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
Lando Norris has beaten his teammate at each of the last five race weekends.
Lando Norris just pipped fellow driver and title rival the Australian for the fastest time in the dying seconds of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the title advantage from Piastri by just one point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix two weeks ago, topped the Melbourne-born driver by a mere 0.023s.
Before then, Piastri had been the leading McLaren throughout the hour before sprint qualifying due at 6:30 PM GMT.
The Red Bull star, the only other driver in the points battle, sitting 36 points behind behind Norris, finished in P17 as his Red Bull team ran a alternative strategy.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the only driver to go off, if briefly, when he rotated at Turn Four soon after starting.
Tsunoda spun out over the track edges before rotating through the gravel trap, and was fortunate to avoid just a light touch of the barrier.
The Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton also spun, at the very end of the practice, turning around through the quick descending Mergulho corner leading to the final bend on to the start-finish straight.
Hamilton ended the session in P19, trailing team-mate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren drivers were well clear of the other competitors, with the German's Sauber third fastest, 0.619secs off Piastri's best.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was fourth fastest, with Sauber's Bortoleto ahead of the Mercedes of Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
