This winter transfer window proves to be a time of feverish rumour and possible major transfers. Numerous prominent players find themselves connected to transfers away from their present clubs. We examine a selection of the top names who might be on the move in January.

A. Semenyo

Despite Ghana's inability to reach the AFCON, this has kept the forward available, it appears a significant move is imminent. The Bournemouth attacker has a contract featuring a £65 million release clause applicable for a brief window at the start of the month. Recent reports indicate the Premier League champions are now the frontrunners for his signature. Former interested parties such as Tottenham and Chelsea are said to have moved on to alternative options, potentially opening the door for clubs such as Liverpool or Manchester United to attempt a late move.

Marc Guéhi

This England centre-back has continued to impress for Palace this season a previous transfer to Anfield collapsing. With his contract set to expire in the close season, January is the club's last chance to secure a fee for their captain. A host of elite sides, such as Manchester City and several European giants including Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich, reportedly hold an interest. However, a winter departure is considered unlikely, particularly given the coach's reliance on the player.

B. Johnson

This Wales forward has found first-team minutes hard to come by at Tottenham this campaign. Although finishing as the club's leading goalscorer last season, Johnson has begun just a small number of league matches. It is understood the London outfit would be open to a transfer for the right price, believed to be in the around forty million pounds. Bournemouth are currently at the front of the queue, with Aston Villa, Brentford, and Crystal Palace also credited with an interest.

Tottenham value the Welsh international at around £40m.

R. Neves

This Portuguese midfielder might be poised for a comeback to the English top flight following a spell in Saudi Arabia. Still only 28, and with his contract expiring in the summer of 2026, he is a potential bargain. Clubs like Manchester United and Liverpool are linked with the former Wolves man. Furthermore, there have been suggestions from Spanish media that he is prepared to take a reduced salary for a move to the Spanish giants.

M. ter Stegen

This experienced Germany goalkeeper finds himself as third-choice at Barcelona under the coach Flick. After lost his place and had an operation, a winter departure looks highly likely. Aston Villa were once mentioned as a potential destination, but that option currently seems unlikely. Instead, interest from Turkey and Saudi Arabia are thought to be expressing curiosity in the 33-year-old.

Ivan Toney

This prolific England striker has kept finding the net frequently in the Middle East. A return to the Premier League might enhance his fading chances of being in the England squad. But, arranging a deal presents significant hurdles. Al-Ahli do not wish to part with him, and his reported enormous weekly wages render any agreement complicated. Tottenham, Manchester United, and Everton have all been linked as interested parties.

Although excelling and being named player of the tournament at the U21 Euros last summer, this talented player has found it tough for game time on loan at Aston Villa. Unai Emery has confirmed the loan move won't be made permanent. Because of FIFA regulations about representing multiple teams in a season, a return to his parent club prior to next season seems to be the only available outcome.

K. Yildiz

The exciting Turkish attacker is in excellent form for Juventus this term. With his current deal running down, many English sides – including Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Tottenham – are monitoring the situation. The Turin club are eager to secure the 20-year-old to a lengthy contract but face a race to retain one of Europe's brightest young talents.

K. Smit

This much-admired Dutch teenage midfielder has drawn comparisons to a Belgian superstar for his playing style. After starring at the U19 Euros, he has become a regular in the AZ side. This 19-year-old is heavily expected to complete a big-money move this month. Newcastle reportedly are leading the chase, but are facing stiff competition from the Spanish champions for a signing priced at around £22 million.
